Union Square.

Can’t help but to add a few photos from Union Square.  If there is shopping to be done this is where you go ...  armed with my map showing where each different shop is situated in the surrounding streets.   Saks, Macy’s you name it they have it…  Leaving Garry to soak up some sun in the square, I ventured on my own. Ross – Dress for Less, at every port this was the most sought after shop on this cruise, top brands for low prices.  Cruise ship passengers will travel great distances to find one of these stores…  San Fran has two.

Dying to use a bathroom, one of the small shop owners directed me to a Nieman Marcus’s just across the road.  On entering I looked up and my jaw dropped at the sight of the magnificent stained-glass dome.  I was thinking, cross between David Jones and Galleries Lafayette.  Trying to look elegant in my cargos and runners, all beautifully accessorised with my fold up back pack and selfie stick. I walked through the store trying to look like I belonged.

Going down the escalators I was met at the bottom by one of the floor managers… “Can I help you, madam” … “yes” I replied, “but in order to concentrate on any shopping I really need to go to the restroom first” … “Yes Madam, just over this way” and he walked with me all the way chatter, chatter , chatter, busting, busting, busting…. “Yes, I am from Australia, oh you have been there, your store is beautiful, reminds me of Paris” I tried to sound cultured. Phew, finally made it to a stall that was bigger than our inside cabin.

Quickly making my way back to the escalator, he once again approached me and escorted me up. Now that I did what I had to do, he asked “So how can I help you today”… trying to think quick on my feet and classy at the same time I replied, “ I am actually after your Tommy Hilfiger range for my husband”- after the sheer look of horror on his face and a mental sound of tut, tut, he said “ Sorry madam, we don’t stock that brand here, you might want to visit Macy’s down the road “ … didn’t even get a chance to take a picture of this lovely store and I was ushered out…

Hmm on writing this I am now thinking, maybe he was not just being polite but thought I was going to steal something ... my fold up backpack was not really that big LOL….
