Bridging the Gap with the Golden Gate

At a cost 35 million to build, it’s 1.2 miles long, able to withstand winds of 100 mph and can sway up to 27 feet in a single bound…  It’s a Ship! It’s a plane! no it’s the Golden Gate Bridge.   Often shrouded in fog, it is painted a nice orange/red colour, not just to blend in with its surroundings but to make it more visible to the passing marine traffic.

You can walk it, ride it, or like us drove it, and on the other side we stopped at one of the popular vantage points.   A Statue of a lone sailor stands looking at her, while hundreds of tourists block his view trying to take pictures of her. A wonderful panorama that not only takes in the bridge but Alcatraz and the City Skyline.
